Meet Our Team
Alex Baltzegar
Executive Director
Alex Baltzegar is a passionate advocate for free enterprise with a diverse background in political strategy, campaign management, and non-profit work. He has managed and worked on over a dozen campaigns, including U.S. Congressional, statewide, and state legislative races. Alex also served as a staffer in both the North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives, before working in political media as a statehouse reporter for the Carolina Journal.

At the North Carolina FreeEnterprise Foundation (NCFREE), Alex is focused on empowering business leaders by providing them with the political intelligence and strategic resources necessary to engage effectively in the legislative process. His unwavering belief in NCFREE’s mission is driven by the conviction that business leaders play a pivotal role in promoting policies that limit government intervention and support free enterprise.
Alex holds a degree in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a graduate of the EA Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders. He resides in Apex, North Carolina, with his wife, Lauren, and their dog, Buckley, where they enjoy biking the Tobacco Trail, dining in downtown Apex, rooting on the Tar Heels, and attending Hope Community Church.
Isabelle Powell
Director, Partnerships and Engagement
Isabelle leads engagement and growth for NCFREE and brings a deep expertise in cultivating long-term business relationships, forging strategic partnerships, and driving program development and organizational growth. Isabelle’s past experience includes engagement of members, partners, and the boards of directors at The National Association of Manufacturers, The Manufacturing Institute and The Better Business Bureau.

As a solutions-focused leader, Isabelle is dedicated to supporting opportunities for free-enterprise fueled innovation and upward economic mobility, strengthening the success of North Carolina businesses, and highlighting the pivotal role companies play in the communities in which they operate.
A native of Davidson, NC, Isabelle resides in Charlotte where she continues to cheer for the Carolina Panthers with an equal balance of reluctance and optimism.
